Terms & Conditions

By booking a pontoon rental with Grateful Drift, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read carefully before completing your reservation.

1. General Terms

Grateful Drift provides pontoon boat rentals for recreational use on the waters of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. All renters and passengers must comply with these Terms & Conditions, all posted safety rules, and all instructions provided during the mandatory safety briefing.

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time.

2. Age & License Requirements

To rent a pontoon boat with Grateful Drift:

  • Renters must be 21 years or older.

  • Boat operators must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license.

  • No special boating license is required under Alabama law.

  • The operator must have prior saltwater boating experience.

Grateful Drift reserves the right to deny rentals to individuals who cannot demonstrate sufficient boating knowledge.

3. Booking & Payment

  • All rentals must be booked online through our website.

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your time slot.

  • Pricing is based on the selected rental duration (half-day or full-day).

  • Once a time slot is booked, it is automatically removed from availability.

4. Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • 48+ hours before reservation: Full refund

  • 24–48 hours before reservation: 50% refund

  • Less than 24 hours before reservation: Non-refundable

  • No-shows: Non-refundable

  • Weather cancellations by Grateful Drift: Full refund or option to reschedule

Grateful Drift determines weather safety based on local marine forecasts, lightning, high winds, or small craft advisories.

​

5. Safety Requirements

All renters and passengers agree to the following mandatory rules:

  • Every passenger must watch the required safety video before boarding.

  • Every passenger must sign the digital waiver individually.

  • Children under 8 must wear life jackets at all times (per Alabama law).

  • All passengers must remain seated while the boat is in motion.

  • The designated operator must remain 100% sober during the rental.

  • No smoking or vaping is permitted on the vessel.

  • Disregarding safety rules may result in early termination of the rental without refund.

Grateful Drift reserves the right to refuse service for unsafe or inappropriate behavior.

6. Condition of Vessel & Damages

Renters are responsible for the pontoon and equipment during the rental period.

You agree to pay for:

  • Damage to the vessel, motor, or propeller

  • Lost or damaged safety equipment

  • Excessive cleaning fees (sand, spills, trash, etc.)

  • Late return fees if the boat is not returned on time

You authorize Grateful Drift to charge the card on file for any damages incurred.

7. Weather & Unforeseen Conditions

Rentals proceed in light rain; however, Grateful Drift may cancel or delay trips due to unsafe conditions such as:

  • Lightning

  • High winds

  • Low visibility

  • Marine advisories

  • Equipment malfunction

In such cases, renters may reschedule or receive a full refund.

8. Alcohol Policy

Alcohol is permitted onboard; however:

  • The boat operator must remain sober.

  • Unsafe or intoxicated behavior may result in early termination of the rental.

Grateful Drift is not responsible for injuries caused by impaired passengers.

9. Personal Belongings

Grateful Drift is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal property. Please secure valuables and keep phones in waterproof cases.

10. Waiver Requirement

All renters and passengers are required to sign the Digital Liability Waiver before boarding. Failure to sign the waiver will prevent participation in the rental.

Refusal to sign invalidates your booking and is not eligible for refund.

11. Boarding & Return

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for orientation.

  • Late arrivals may reduce your rental time and cannot be refunded.

  • Boats returned late may incur additional fees.

​

12. Prohibited Activities

For safety purposes, the following are strictly prohibited:

  • Smoking or vaping

  • Operating the boat under the influence

  • Exceeding the 10-person capacity

  • Entering restricted waterways

  • High-speed operation in no-wake zones

Violation of these rules may result in termination of rental without refund.

13. Indemnification

By booking, the renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless:

Grateful Drift, Grateful Happening LLC, its owners, employees, and affiliates

from any claims, injuries, losses, or damages arising from participation in the rental activities.
